Yum Yum in my tum tum

What is that I'm reading? It's zucchini and tomatoes over linguine with fresh herbs and cheese. Recipe from Food and Wine magazine. Sorry Kristin. I like to blog about food. I can't help it!

And Heidi was making it. She invited us up for dinner last night and it was delish!

Picture perfect! And Kurt paired it with a Rose. No wait...it was a Syrah. It was great!

Curtis watching our current addiction, The Wire, while holding Lennon and Weller. He was channeling the dog whisperer I guess.

But then Lennon went to the one he loves more...ME!

Stretching the budget...

We are going to Montreal on Friday morning and I'm trying to not spend any money until we leave. Heidi gave me a bunch of extra Swiss chard and I sauteed it with onions. Peppered steak grilled on the back yard BBQ.

We had a rotisserie chicken the other night for dinner. I used the left over chicken meat on the carcass and made this chicken salad. Ingredients: chicken, sour cream, diced apple, almonds, pecans, lemon juice.

Boxed up for the fridge. Chicken salad sandwiches or on a bed of romaine for lunch.

1/2 a dozen eggs, mayo, mustard, paprika, tiny bits of onion and pepper.

Packaged for the week. Egg salad sandwiches for lunch.

Left over chicken sausages with peppers, onions and corn cut straight from the cob.

Layered in a pan with corn bread baked on top...my version of a Mexican Shepard's pie.

Brownies with pecans inside and almonds on top. The trick to good brownies is a hint of salt.

July 4th BBQ

Sorry this is like a week late. Work has been kicking my butt lately. All I want to do when I get home now is eat food, drink some wine and watch The Wire. Blogging has been on the back burner, until now that is. This is one of the several fireworks we set off from the roof of our apt building. Real safe, right? The fireworks were set off on the Hudson this year so we couldn't see them from the East Side. Stupid 400 year anniversary of Henry sailing off the Hudson..next year, we will reclaim the fireworks for the East Side!

Look at that beauty -- RED, WHITE and BLUE! This is the view of the Empire State Building from my roof top.

Back yard chow down time.

How many people can you fit in one backyard?

We had quite a few...notice I'm holding our electric bug zapper racket the whole time. ha ha
I wanted to kill the bugs!

Me and Zoe. :)
