Cooks Illustrated

So a co-worker told me about this magazine and I looked it up on their website where you can also get a free trial issue. Awesome. I sure did get mine in the mail today. Took awhile, but it's here. According to Wikipedia, Cook's Illustrated is an American cooking magazine published by America's Test Kitchen in Brookline, Massachusetts, every two months. It accepts no advertising and is characterized by extensive recipe testing and detailed instructions; the magazine also conducts thorough evaluations of kitchen equipment and branded foods and ingredients.

I'm a fan. I love that they've tested everything and it's super informative. Plus, the recipes look great! I'm totally signing up! Go get your free trial issue and check it out for yourself!

Bed, Bath and Boyfriend

I haven't used this yet, but I can just tell this is going to be an amazing frying pan! It's light weight cast iron! I love that the inside is white - so I can see the food cooking to the right consistency and I love the red handle! I love red in the kitchen!

As seen on TV! I can't wait to use this too! I hate chopping onions!

English snacks.

So my neighbor has some friends in town visiting from Sheffield and they brought us snacks. I love these blokes already! :) Check the gummy pig faces out closely - the ears are kinda realistic looking - gross. But they are dang tasty. Also the Spicy Yorkshire Sauce is exclusive to Sheffield - you can't buy it in the States anywhere. I feel so special. Thanks guys!

Ice and Fruit

I'm obsessed with ice trays. My newest? Fish ice!! Or you can go religious on me and it can be "Christian Ice"! Either way, it freezes fast!

Fish ice can be found at your local IKEA. Thank you IKEA.

I tried my hand at chocolate covered strawberries. It seemed easier than it looked.

I melted the chocolate but it didn't seem right - so I added olive oil and milk...

End result...not sticky enough. Tasted great, but presentation? F!
